What I found really interesting in the process was the glazing. Before you do that, you're really just clueless
(as a beginner). And then you have the challenge of trying to figure a good color match, or mix, and what made it really
difficult is the glazes are all milky colored, so you have no idea how they will turn out... until after the firing.
You dip them, paint them, play with them, and won't have any idea how they will look until they are done! And then when
you finally SEE your finished project!! It really is amazing.
My first batch! |
|
Here's a couple of ... let's just say 'interesting' pieces! |
My new make-up brush holder! |
|
Made this one in our first class... it's called slab pottery. We rolled out the clay like pie dough |
Brown Yuk! |
|
My very first piece off the wheel! Enough said... |
Blue Pedestal Cup |
|
I think the top flopped on this one, so I cut it off. This is what's left! |
Green/Midnight Blue Milk Jug? |
|
Just playing around with this one... not really sure what it is! |
Blue and White Soup Bowl |
|
This turned out to be the perfect size for a whole can of soup! |
Blue White Soup Bowl |
|
And here's the inside... went a little nutso on this one. |
I should be getting another batch in a couple of weeks, so stayed tuned! Can't wait to see how those will turn
out! We'll get to see if I'm improving at all! eek!
